I know some people are saying leaving youtube is an overreaction. Frankly, don't think I care anymore. The writing's been on the wall for years now with these big corp owned sites and every year, there's a new land mine that has to be avoided. I'm just tired of this BS.

Odysee reminds me more of old youtube before it got crappy. I know there are a lot of youtube alternatives but most of them are political hotbeds and I do music to FORGET about that kinda thing, so, yeah, hope more people start using Odysee. I already see some of the gaming channels I used to follow on youtube there, so here's hoping the site grows, so it can afford better bandwidth.

Now, why delete my youtube gallery instead of just leaving it up? Well consider this scenario, say down the road youtube's AI decides randomly that I need to be age verified. I of course refuse because I don't want my ID sold, tracked or leaked in the inevitable "data breach" that youtube will experience in the near future. Now I can't access my youtube. And lets say while I can't access my account, youtube decides to update their TOS again and suddenly, unless you opt out, all your content will legally belong to youtube. I can't log in to opt out. Or maybe they update the TOS to allow AI scraping? Either way, not going to be good if I can't log in.

This may sound silly but this is the same site that randomly one day decided to CHANGE MY OWN PW. I shite you not, I had to do a full PW recovery simply because youtube thought my account wasn't secure enough, so obviously I had to be locked out. This is the same site that has no real customer service to be found. The same site that every few days, harasses me for my home address and phone number (no I don't ever give them THAT either). This is the sorry state of the corporate world we live in. It's the reason my X, soundcloud and spotify are all empty. TOS shenanigans where they try to steal the rights to your own content, or sign you up for AI data crapping you NEVER wanted.

And sure, sometimes the bad TOS's get nerfed upon public outcry and who knows, maybe youtube will backtrack on this new bunch of BS but I'm done trying to keep up. I don't need my social media accounts being so high maintenance, that I need a lawyer monitoring them. But aren't you afraid of getting no views on Odysee? You might ask. Well, youtube long since blackballed small content creators in the search and recommendations algorithm, so, my hit counts can't really get any worse lol. On youtube I have literally witnessed my own view counts going BACKWARDS. Yeah, the hit count number actually going DOWN. Because that's not a sign of a rigged system right?.
