I wish more people thought like this. Too often I see gearlust empty the pockets of poor music producers without adding a single thing to their creativity!

Indeed. It's the music that matters.

@Midnights-Ocean do you make your own sample packs or preset packs? I have a monthly magazine I do where I share producer freebies. Would you be interested in that sorta thing?

I DO make most of my own samples and such. Unfortunately I am TERRIBLE about cleaning/compiling/organizing them. They are scattered in god knows what folders, in god knows what places, spread over god knows how many projects. So I have nothing of value to offer at the moment in that regard. However, if I ever get my mess together, I will let you know. <:3 I've made some pretty cool sample patches over the years.

@Midnights-Ocean haha don't worry I'm the exact same! How do you usually make your samples? I usually use RX7. I've been taking recordings on my phone for years. Some of them even sound cool. The rest I synthesize, extract, combine, or pull out of other recordings

I have a hand held recorder I carry around. Got some great sounds at a train yard that way. I then load samples into logic's sampler synth to make patches. I will also often record stuff at home using my studio mic. Bowls, power tools, springs, washing machines, tech bleeps, trash can lids, you name it. I will often use paulstretch and other types of program to modify sounds. I tend to avoid sampling preexisting music works. Usually if I sample something I didn't record, it will be something "unmusical" like nature recordings, which I then heavily modify. I also record my own nature stuff too, when I can. It can be tricky though to isolate sounds. I've also owned a small army of different synths over the years and gotten many great samples from those. Especially when I was crazy enough to go modular for a few years.

@Midnights-Ocean The more you talk, the more I hope you can find some of those and pull them together for a pack! I may have already mentioned but I just threw up all of my sample packs onto beatstars for free, and I have a gigantic collection now in the terabytes of packs and found sounds. I get a lot of mileage out of breaks, turning instrument demos and teaching materials into oneshots, and so on. In other words, I'm in love with sampling. And what you do with paulstretch piques my fancy!

I hope so too! lol. Life just doesn't seem to want to give me a break since 2020 @.@; If I just had the time, I could sort all this stuff out.
